Michael Wolff has a Vanity Fair article on Rupert Murdoch’s desire to monetize news coverage on the Web. Wolff, author of a biography of Murdoch, suggests that Murdoch probably does not ‘get’ technology.
The internet is as they say disruptive technology it is changing many things not just print media.
Perhaps Murdoch, or his advisers, should take a look at this article Reinventing Print Media at strategy & business – the monthly journal of Booz Allen. The article considers a variety of strategic paths for survival in the digital age. Whether these will be the ones we do not know as yet. Indeed it is probable that success will include options most of us have yet to think about, let alone comprehend.
