Governance and the recession

In thinking about some aspects of governance I wondered just what sort of impact the recession was having on governance.

Given pressures on headcount and costs is there a possibility that governance will suffer?

Will it be the case that roles which should be separate are blurred ot merged, with a negative impact on governance?

Has anybody seen any evidence of that to date?

Of course it impacts governance. Do you know a boss that want to be firied because he gets bad results ? What does he do then ? He hides his losses to his board and try harder to have a board on his hand, not to get problems with his false figures . Don’t you think ?

    ( excuse my english)
