Stuff reports that the Commerce Commission is looking into some aspects of finance company transactions.
Frankly in a country the size of NZ, why do we not have one regulatory body, rather than a Commerce Commission and a Securities Commission.
I want good governance, but not overly complicated governance, nor do I want people to be able to say this was not in my purview.
I know many in NZ do not see the need for some regulation, preferring to accept market discipline.
Unfortunately we do not have perfect markets.
Therefore, my view is that their view is wrong. Or at best misguided.
Why, well there is a tendency to monopoly in NZ whereas I like competition.
